FUDAN-LSE “Double Master's Degree Program in Global Media and Communications”

The Journalism School of Fudan University established the Global Media and Communications double-master’s degree program in partnership with the Department of Media and Communications, London School of Economics and Political Science, in 2007. So far, five cohorts of students have graduated from this program with 47 students have obtained the double degrees from Fudan and LSE.

                                                                                                                                                                                     

The program aims to enhance the skills of media and communications professionals - through research, practical training and applied learning - in Chinese media, marketing, journalism and culture in order to enhance their knowledge of China, equipping them with a richer global perspective and media savvy so they can contribute a unique transnational perspective in their future professions.

 

First Year in LSE

           

LSE is located in London, the UK’s media capital. LSE is a specialist university with an international intake and a global reach. Its research and teaching span the full breadth of the social sciences, from economics, politics and law to sociology, anthropology, accounting and finance. Founded in 1895 by Beatrice and Sidney Webb, the School has an outstanding reputation for academic excellence. 16 Nobel prize winners have been LSE staff or alumni.

 

The first year is within the Department of Media and Communication, LSE with a specialization on Global Media and Communications. Courses include Media Power, Research Methods in Media and Communication, Media and Globalization, Political Communication and so on. Students have chances to choose Chinese language as optional course.

Second Year in Fudan

 

Established in 1905, Fudan University has been being one of top universities in China and well-known in the world. The Journalism School of Fudan University was founded in 1988. Its precursor, the Department of Journalism, Fudan University, was founded in 1929 as the first educational establishment in China to commit to journalism education. As the only journalism school in China that offers four levels of education in the discipline - undergraduate, graduate, PhD and post-PhD - Fudan J-school is a proud ‘Cradle for Chinese Journalists’ and a nationwide leader in journalism and communication research.

 

The second year of the program within School of Journalism, Fudan University is committed to the study for Fudan University Degree of Communication, specialization in Global Media and Communications. It makes full use of the specialties of Fudan University in journalism and its close links to Shanghai’s media industry to help students gain expertise in Chinese media.
